The second ship of Geely Automobile has arrived!
Updated: 2025-09-11

On September 8, 2025, the Jisu Glory vessel was successfully delivered at the Longkou base of CIC Lufu. This ship is the 10th 7,000车位 automotive transport ship (PCTC) built by CIC Lufu for the international mainstream shipping company Zodiac Maritime. It is also the final project of this series. Thus, the 10-ship construction project that lasted for three and a half years between the two parties has come to a successful conclusion, becoming an important milestone for CIC Group in the construction of high-end roll-on/roll-off ships.

At the same time, the commissioning of this vessel also marks the addition of the second self-operated ship of Jishu Logistics, a subsidiary of Geely Automobile. As one of the important strategies of Geely Automobile in the shipping sector, the delivery of the "Jisu Glory" further demonstrates the growing initiative of Chinese automakers in the global logistics system.

The three-and-a-half-year project has been successfully completed.

On September 2, 2021, CIC Lufu and Zodiac Maritime signed a multi-ship 7,000车位 PCTC EPC general contracting contract, initiating a deep cooperation between the two parties in the high-end manufacturing of roll-on/roll-off ships. Since the delivery of the first ship "BYD Explorer No.1" on January 8, 2024, CIC Lufu has successively completed the consecutive delivery of 10 ships of this series with dual-fuel propulsion systems. The delivery of "Jisu Glory" was finally completed smoothly, marking a successful conclusion.

Throughout the entire construction process, CIC Lufowas continuously broke new ground in design, construction and project management, achieving a leap from "exploration" to "maturity", and demonstrating the comprehensive strength and delivery capabilities of China's shipbuilding industry in the high-end roll-on/roll-off ship sector.

The project team worked hand in hand with its partners to forge ahead.

When reviewing the project history, the Cixin Lufu team stated that the project team has always adhered to the spirit of "willing to take on tough tasks and capable of achieving victory", and has overcome difficulties in various aspects such as workshop manufacturing, system debugging, cross-departmental collaboration, and supply chain support, ensuring that all ships were delivered on schedule and with high quality.

At the handover ceremony, Ms. Deng Jing, a senior representative of Zodiac Maritime, said: "The 'Jisu Glory' vessel marks the successful completion of the ten PCTC ship project. It is also a model of our deep cooperation with CIC Lufu. Ten deliveries, ten commitments, each one testifies to the outstanding quality of Chinese manufacturing."

Volkan, the site manager of the Zodiac Maritime project, pointed out: "This is not the end, but a new beginning. We are looking forward to continuing to collaborate with CIC FOSU in the future and jointly building more green and intelligent ships."

Zhang Wen, the vice president of LR for the Greater China region, also emphasized in his speech: "This project is an outstanding example of cooperation among all parties. LR is honored to be involved in it and witness the high-quality development of China's shipbuilding industry."

Li Minggao, the vice president of CIC Lufu Sheng, expressed his special gratitude to Zodiac Maritime for its trust, the professional support from LR and DNV, as well as the joint efforts of the suppliers, the project team, and the shipowner's supervision team.

Launch a new chapter in strategic cooperation

The delivery of "Jisu Glory" not only marks the conclusion of a project, but also represents a new beginning for the strategic cooperation between the two parties. In the future, CIC Lufu and Zodiac Maritime will further deepen their partnership, promote the construction of more green and intelligent ships, and jointly contribute to the low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry.

The successful conclusion of this series of projects has not only provided Zongji Lufosheng with valuable experience, but also laid a solid foundation for further expansion in the high-end roll-on/roll-off ship market. It has also demonstrated the competitiveness of "Made in China" on the international stage.

The second self-operated vessel of Geely Automobile

As mentioned above, the latest delivered vessel has been named "Jisu Glory", mainly because the ship's charterer is Jisu Logistics, a company under Geely Automobile.

In fact, this will also become the second vessel operated by Geely Automobile. As early as in May this year, the "JISU FORTUNE" (Geese Fortune) vessel from the same Zodiac series of ships was officially leased to Geese Logistics for operation. (The first ship of Geely Automobile has arrived!)

Earlier, BYD also leased two container ships from Zodiac Maritime, namely "BYD EXPLORER NO. 1" and "BYD CHANGZHOU".

Although the "JISU Glory" and other vessels belong to Zodiac, Geely's choice has sent out a clear signal: Chinese automakers no longer wait for traditional shipping companies to have available vessels. Instead, they take the initiative to control the logistics chain and, through flexible financing lease or TC leasing models, build a truly controllable, customized, and highly frequent roll-on/roll-off transportation capacity system. This is not only a leap in logistics capabilities but also a strategic expression of industrial globalization.
